Gloria Wong
Gloria Wong is a passionate music educator of traditional Chinese music. She plays the zheng (zither) and pipa (plucked lute). In addition to her work at the VSO School of Music, she is also the director of the UBC Chinese Music Ensemble and an artistic leader at the BC Chinese Music Association. She holds a PhD in Ethnomusicology from the University of British Columbia and has studied the zheng with Mei Han and pipa with Guilian Liu. Dr. Wong loves working with students of all ages and particularly enjoys teaching young children and the elderly. She enjoys thinking through pedagogical methods to help her students learn their instruments more easily and with greater enjoyment. Dr. Wong is also a music scholar and has published on topics of Chinese music theory, organology and ethnography.
