A Toronto native, Ann Okagaito began studying the violin through the Suzuki method at the Royal Consevatory of Music in Toronto with Yuriko Horie. After going on to study with Alec Hou and Atis Bankas, Ann received her BMus with Honours from Northwestern University studying with Almita and Roland Vamos. While at Northwestern, she soloed with the Northwestern University Symphony Orchestra under Victor Yampolsky, having been one of the Concerto Competition winners.
Ms. Okagaito went on to get her MMus from the Cleveland Institute of Music studying under Paul Kantor and then became a Fellow at the New World Symphony in Miami Beach, FL. There Ann had the chance to work with Michael Tilson Thomas, and played masterclasses for Christian Tetzlaff and Gil Shaham among others. In the summers, Ms. Okagaito plays in the Colorado Music Festival Orchestra under Michael Christie and has also performed with the Spoleto Festival USA, in Charleston SC, as well as soloed and performed with the National Repertory Orchestra in Colorado.
