Originally from Seattle, WA, Brandon McLean began playing the double bass in early high school. He pursued a Bachelor's degree from the University of North Texas, and a Master's degree from The Boston Conservatory. After moving to Pittsburgh, PA to further his studies, Brandon was selected to join the New World Symphony, an orchestral training program based in Miami Beach, Florida. From there, Brandon spent two seasons as Assistant Principal bass of the Florida Orchestra.
As a substitute bassist, Brandon has participated in four world tours with the Pittsburgh Symphony. He has also participated in many of the most prestigious summer music festivals, including the Verbier Festival in Switzerland and the Tanglewood Music Festival. Brandon is Associate Principal Bass at the Vancouver Symphony.
