Pipa Group Class

This introductory group class for the Chinese lute - the pipa - introduces students to an instrument that dates back to the 2nd Century. The class begins with instruction on basic posture, some plucking techniques for the right hand such as tantiao and lun, finger positions with the left hand and reading cipher notation. 

By the end of the term, students will know how to play exercises to build technical facility, and play simple musical pieces on the pipa.

Recommended for: Adults and teens age 13yrs and up. No previous musical experience necessary.
Dates and Times: Wednesdays, 7-8:30pm. 8 weeks during WINTER ONLY.
