Conrad Good

Conrad Good is a double bassist and music educator living and performing in Vancouver. He is an in-demand bassist on the Vancouver jazz scene. He has taught bass privately since 2015, sharing his knowledge of double bass and music with children and adult students. He is a founding board member for the Good Centre for the Arts.

Conrad began his music studies at the age of 4 years, studying cello at the Vancouver Academy of Music with Audrey Nodwell. At 10 years old, he was drawn to the double bass, and began studying classical double bass with David Brown, of the VSO. During these years of private study, Conrad performed with many ensembles, including the Vancouver Academy of Music Symphony and Chamber Strings, the Lord Byng Symphony Orchestra and Honour Orchestra, and the Vancouver Youth Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Roger Cole. With both the VYSO and LBSO, Conrad had the opportunity to perform the VanHal concerto for double bass.

After graduating from Lord Byng Arts, Conrad continued with his musical education at the University of British Columbia and the Schulich School of Music at McGill University, where he earned a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance. The highlight of his training at McGill was the opportunity to study with drummer Chris McCann for three years.

Upon returning to Vancouver in 2017, Conrad earned a Diploma of Professional Counselling from Vancouver College of Counsellor Training, with an Area of Specialized Interest in Seniors Counselling. Conrad is currently a busy musician and teacher, and is raising a young family.
