Debbie Mun

Pianist Debbie Mun is an accomplished soloist, collaborative pianist, and chamber musician with an active international career. She has performed extensively throughout the United States, Mexico, and Europe, and has maintained a dedicated private piano studio since 1994.
Ms. Mun served as an integral member of the music faculty at Motion & Music Performing Arts Academy (formerly Music Box) in New Westminster, British Columbia, for over eight years, where she contributed significantly to the artistic growth and development of musicians of all ages. Previously, she served on the music faculty at Christ for the Nations Institute in Dallas, Texas, where she was also Director of the Mass Choir. In addition, she founded and served as Artistic Director of the Valley Lutheran School of Performing Arts (now known as Chagrin Valley Music Academy) and the Chagrin Valley Chamber Music Concert Series in Cleveland, presenting performances by world-renowned artists.
Her accomplishments include receiving the Embassy of Honour Award from the Korean Embassy in Washington, D.C.
A native of South Korea, Ms. Mun began her piano studies at the age of five. She holds an Artist Diploma in Piano Performance from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music. Additionally, she studied both a Master of Music and a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance, with a minor in Music Theory, from the Cleveland Institute of Music and the University of North Texas.
Her principal teachers include Pamela Mia Paul (University of North Texas), Sedmara Rutstein (Oberlin Conservatory of Music), and Daniel Shapiro (Cleveland Institute of Music). Additional studies were undertaken with Carole Leone (Southern Methodist University), Mario Delli Ponti (Verdi Conservatory), and Paul Schenly (Cleveland Institute of Music). She has also been mentored by distinguished musicians including Taras Gabora, Peter Rejto, Michael Hawn, and Lloyd Pfautsch.
