Dr. Ardeshir Pourkeramati

Saxophonist and composer Dr. Ardeshir Pourkeramati brings a vibrant and expressive voice to the Canadian jazz scene. Rooted in the jazz tradition and fluent in a range of styles—from hard bop to modern fusion—he has performed with leading Canadian artists such as Brad Turner, Cory Weeds, Steve Kaldestad, Jodi Proznick, and John Lee. Ardeshir is an active bandleader in Vancouver, where he leads his acoustic jazz quintet and the fusion project ArdyTronics, and has performed with ensembles including the Vancouver Jazz Orchestra, Hard Rubber Orchestra, and Jaelem Bhate Jazz Orchestra.
A long-time student of saxophone guru Stan Karp, Ardeshir holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Jazz Studies from the University of Southern California There he was mentored by Bob Mintzer, Clarence Penn, Vince Mendoza, Ralph Moore, and Eric Reed. He also earned a master’s degree from the University of Oregon, where he studied with Steve Owen and Dave Liebman, and a bachelor’s degree from Capilano University, studying under Brad Turner, Steve Kaldestad, and Bill Coon.
As an educator and performer, Ardeshir is passionate about inspiring the next generation of musicians while remaining deeply engaged in his creative practice.
