Kiandokht Nouri
In-Person Lessons
Kiandokht Nouri is a Vancouver-based pianist and educator who began playing piano at the age of six before continuing her formal studies at the Tehran Music School, where she received her high school diploma. She later pursued advanced training in piano performance at the University of Tehran and completed her Bachelor of Music “With High Distinction” at the University of British Columbia under the mentorship of Miranda Wong. She has been recognized with awards including the Patricia Chapman Memorial Scholarship in Music, the Trek Excellence Scholarship, and the Eleanor and James Wrigley Bursary.
As a performer, Kiandokht is active both as a soloist and chamber musician. She has appeared at festivals and concert series in Vancouver, including performances with violinist Ava Shadmani and flutist Mehrdad Gholami on the Urban Tale Project, an initiative dedicated to commissioning Iranian composers and expanding the presence of diaspora composers through new recordings and performances. In April 2025, she presented a duet recital with Ava Shadmani in Vancouver, and collaborated with Ava on her album, which will be released in fall 2025. Beyond performance, she also works with the Vancouver Extracurricular Music Society (VEMS) as both pianist and conductor, creating engaging choir programs for children in local schools.
With more than a decade of teaching experience, Kiandokht delights in guiding students of all ages, from babies in Mini Music Makers to school-aged children, teenagers, and adults. She finds daily inspiration in supporting their musical growth, creativity, and confidence. Her students have achieved outstanding results in RCM and BCCM exams, as well as Kiwanis and other competitions, a testament to her dedication to nurturing both skill and passion. At the VSO School of Music, she teaches group keyboard classes, assists with early childhood programs, and contributes to seasonal camps, leading classes in piano exploration, group keyboard, and music & movement.
In addition to piano, Kiandokht studied clarinet as her second instrument in high school and still loves exploring the sounds of the clarinet and making music with it creatively. Outside of music, she loves being outdoors — hiking Vancouver’s mountain and forest trails, biking along city paths, and spending summer days enjoying water activities.
