Mark Marinic

Born and raised on the prairies, Mark Marinic is a composer, producer, guitarist, and educator currently based in Vancouver, British Columbia, the unceded territory of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations. Inspired by a love of pop music and the written word, Mark punctuates his concert music with characterful melodies and
grooving rhythms.
Mark has had the pleasure of working with soloists and ensembles across Canada, and his music has been featured by ensembles such as the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Standing Wave Ensemble, and Friction Quartet, and at events such as Indie Opera Fest, the LAMP New Music Festival, Winnipeg New Music Festival, Winnipeg Fringe Theatre Festival. He is a member of the Lake & Ocean Collective, a group of artists located across Canada who are dedicated to the democratic co-creation of new digital opera. Their first digital opera, how are you? was premiered as part of the 2021 Indie Opera Festival and won the audience choice prize.
Mark is currently pursuing his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Composition at the University of British Columbia. He holds a Master of Music in Composition from UBC (’19) and a Bachelor of Music in Composition and Classical Guitar from Brandon University (’17).
