Nicholas Bracewell is a Drummer, Composer, and Educator based out of Vancouver, British Columbia.
He has played at festivals around the U.S.A and Canada such as the Detroit Jazz Festival, Reeperbahn Festival (Germany) Vancouver Jazz Festival, East Lansing Summer Solstice Festival, Lansing Jazz Festival, South by Southwest, and the Victoria Jazz Festival. He has played and recorded with artists such as Rodney Whitaker, Diego Rivera, Rick Roe, Maureen Choi, Micheal Dease, Etienne Charles, Perry Hughes, Jodi Proznick, The Shuffle Demons, Laila Biali, XL the Band (Swollen Members), James Danderfer, Ashely Wey, Randy Napoleon, Gabriel Mark Hasselbach and Corey Kendrick.
He began playing drums at a very young age; initially starting by playing on pots and pans. When he was in elementary school he was accepted into the Civic Youth Ensembles Jazz Orchestra under the direction of Marcus Belgrave and Rodney Whitaker. His passion for music led him to receive his Bachelor’s and Masters’s Degree in Jazz Performance at Michigan State University, studying under Randy “Uncle G” Gelispie (Wes Montgomery, Sonny Stitt). Nicholas recently received a Bachelor of Education from Simon Fraser University. He is currently performing and teaching in the Vancouver area.
