Sydney Frelick
Sydney Frelick is from Medicine Hat, Alberta. She has been singing since she could talk, and began formal music training at 8 years old when she began taking voice and piano lessons and joined her local children’s’ choir. Sydney has travelled the world participating in choral festivals with the Medicine Hat College Girls’ Choir and the UBC University Singers. In 2016, she began her Bachelor of Music in Opera Performance at the University of British Columbia and graduated in spring 2020.
Sydney found her love of teaching when she was in high school and got the opportunity to direct the music for a local school’s theatre production. She went on to teach and conduct pieces in her girls’ choir and her high school band, assisted with local music summer programs and has not stopped teaching since.
Sydney began teaching at the VSO School of Music in 2018 assisting Mini Music Makers classes and teaching theory in the Piano Pathways program. Her passion is music education, and she believes that all children should have the chance to deepen their knowledge of music at every level.
