Tiffany Oakes
Tiffany Oakes was born in Vancouver and grew up in the sunny Okanagan Valley. She now resides on the North Shore and spends her week working as a Special Education Assistant. She uses her skills in music and art to empower students, of all abilities, to be successful in the classroom. Her weekends are spent with her family and teaching the VSO School of Music’s fabulous Mini Music Makers program.
Tiffany began taking voice lessons at the age of seven. In her early teens, she performed in various tribute bands, covering the tunes of well-known, 20th century music groups such as The Beatles, Queen, The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith and KISS. Rock on!
In young adulthood, Tiffany studied classical voice with Alexandra Babbel, former voice teacher at Trinity International University and Founder/Artistic Director of Opera Kelowna. With Sandra, Tiffany was introduced to a whole new world of vocalization; with a focus on singing in the style of Bel Canto and Musical Theatre.
Tiffany returned to the Lower Mainland and completed her Diploma of Music in Vocal Performance at Capilano University. She continued her studies in Psychology and Music Therapy, finding this knowledge to further enhance her belief that, music can be used as an educational tool as well as therapeutically. She has sung in several professional choirs around the lower mainland and also holds a Certificate in Conducting.
Tiffany’s goal as a Mini Music Makers teacher is to create meaningful moments that are inclusive to children of all unique learning styles. Music with Tiffany will be held in an environment where children can access the foundation of rhythm and beat, discover the power of their own voice and above all, have an awesome time.
