Step behind the scenes of a professional orchestra! Designed for dedicated young musicians aged 12 to 18, this immersive one-day camp offers a unique window into the professional life of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. Students will gain a deep appreciation for classical masterworks, experience a live professional rehearsal, and receive direct mentorship from elite orchestral faculty.
Schedule & Highlights:
- Morning Session – Discovery & Rehearsal: The day begins with an engaging workshop exploring Felix Mendelssohn’s evocative Scottish Symphony, breaking down its history, themes, and orchestral structure. Students will then transition to the concert hall to observe an exclusive rehearsal of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.
- Afternoon Session – Masterclasses: In the afternoon, campers work directly with expert VSO School of Music winds, brass, and percussion faculty members, focusing on technical growth, ensemble playing, and orchestral musicianship.
