Ever wonder how the modern Symphony Orchestra came to be? Or why some composers sound like the soundtrack to Pride and Prejudice and some The Shining?
Join us for this three-week course on the history of the Symphony Orchestra: the instruments, the conductor, the composers, the styles. Conductor and Music Historian Kevin Zakresky will take us from the early ensembles of the Baroque through to the massive symphonies of Mahler and beyond. No prior knowledge is necessary.
