Registration for Spring term is now open!
This is an in-person music class, held at the VSO School
Learn the basics of violin playing the right way, and see if this could be the start of a treasured hobby, or even more! This small group class give participants a solid foundation on the instrument – including posture, bow hold, familiarity with open strings and notation –as well as a fun opportunity to learn and make music in a group from the very beginning.
By the end of term, participants will
- be able to play multiple tunes together with accompaniment
- understand the foundations of rhythm and pulse
- play with correct posture and bow hold
- be familiar with their open strings and the basics of music notation
- learn how to collaborate and make music together
The Spring term of this class is for children who have completed two terms of group violin classes at the VSO School. Other beginners with equivalent experience may be eligible – contact us for more info on whether this class could be a good fit for your child
Participants will need:
- A properly sized violin, likely 1/10; 1/8 or 1/4 depending on arm length
- A shoulder rest, if not included with violin
