Course Overview:
This project-based workshop is designed to introduce students to the fundamental concepts and tools of music production. By the end of the four weeks, students will create 1–2 individual projects that showcase their understanding of audio recording, editing, and MIDI sequencing using Ableton Live. The course is suitable for beginners, and no prior experience is required.
The Music Production course also serves as a pre-requisite for the Youth Film Scoring Workshop, running from February 4 to March 26. This follow-up workshop builds on the skills learned in Music Production and focuses on applying DAW knowledge to film scoring. Participants will collaborate with filmmakers from Cinematheque to create an original short film with a custom score.

About the Instructor:
In addition to working as a professional live musician, Noah Franche-Nolan is equally active in the field of recording and scoring, having most recently composed the score to the NYC-made documentary Rite of Passage [DOCNYC Festival], and the music for Vancouver-based playwright Shelby Satterthwaite’s play Light Rapid Transit. He is currently composing and recording the score for a new feature length NYC-made documentary, entitled Painting of Solidarity.
