These are in-person music classes, held at the VSO School of Music
Unlock the joy of music theory with an exciting twist!
In this dynamic, hands-on class, young musicians will explore the world of music theory like never before. Through games, interactive activities, and creative exercises, students will master note names, intervals, chords, scales, key signatures, rhythm, and more—all without being tied to paper and pencil! We focus on engaging, real-world applications that build confidence and spark curiosity.
Perfect for budding musicians, this class nurtures a deep understanding of music that will fuel their passion and fast-track their progress on their instrument. It is also ideal for those looking to build a music theory foundation before starting instrumental studies, or as a supplement to private lessons. This could also be a fun way to ease into structured theory programs like the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) syllabus.
In a social, fun-filled environment, students will build essential skills and see their musical abilities soar.
Program Highlights:
- full-year registration ensures a comprehensive learning experience from Fall through Spring terms
- by the end of the year, your child will confidently recognize and use key music theory concepts, including intervals, scales, and chords
- ear training exercises will help them identify patterns and progressions, making their music reading and playing effortless
- rhythm games will sharpen their ability to read, create, and improvise, all while having fun!
