This is an online music class, taught using Zoom
This virtual course, for recorder, flute and oboe players at intermediate playing level and above, will focus on Benedetto Marcello’s Recorder Sonata in F Major, Op.2, No.1 and address all aspects of approaching a Baroque sonata including style, articulation, trills, ornamentation, form, keys, harmony and strategies for practice. The final classes will be in master class format for those interested in performing part of the sonata for all participants.
While the sonata is written for alto recorder (in F), there will be parts available in C for those who prefer. Another option is to play an alto recorder reading the C part which would be the same fingerings as playing the sonata on alto. Flute and oboe players are welcome too as the sonata fits the range of those instruments.
