Summer Flute Week is a fantastic way for flutists to challenge themselves, hone their ensemble skills, develop their ‘flutistry’, and play fantastic music together in a friendly, yet intensive setting. Led by VSO Assistant Principal Flute, Chris James, and VSOSoM Faculty Member, Mark McGregor, Summer Flute Week runs for five days, culminating in a public performance in the VSO School of Music’s beautiful Pyatt Hall on August 17.
Daily Schedule, August 12-16
10am: Warm-up/Technique Class
11am-12:30pm: Flute Choir Rehearsal
2:30-4:00pm: Flute Choir Rehearsal
4:00-5:00pm: Private flute lessons* and individual practice
August 17 Schedule
10:30am-12:30pm: Dress Rehearsal in Pyatt Hall
2:00pm: Concert in Pyatt Hall (approx. 90min)
Summer Flute Week is aimed at flutists aged 12-adult, with a minimum playing level of Grade 6 RCM or equivalent. There will be no pre-auditions, but informal auditions will take place on the first day to determine seating placement within the ensemble.
