This is an in-person music class, held at the VSO School
Based on the Suzuki Method, this introductory cello class is the perfect jump-start for your little one’s future in music. Over the course of 10 weeks, a small cohort of complete beginners will build a pretend cello, to practice the following skills:
- Sitting with the best posture to play the cello
- Treating the instrument with care and respect
- Singing the songs and clapping the rhythms of the first Suzuki cello pieces
Through fun and engaging games and exercises, participants will build up to an exciting introduction to the *real instrument* by the end of the course!
Please note: Parent Participation is required
The Suzuki method is well known and respected throughout the world. It came to North America from Japan in the 60’s and has been growing exponentially around the world ever since, enriching the lives of hundreds and thousands of children.
Many famous musicians, whether solo artists or symphony players, got their first start with the Suzuki method. Main tenets of the philosophy are: an early start, supportive and fun group classes with peers, and a nurturing musical environment prepared by the parent. Most importantly, Suzuki embraces the empowering philosophy that “Every Child Can”.
