VSOSoM Students Win at the Friends of Chamber Music’s 69th Young Musicians Competition

Friends of Chamber Music’s 69th Young Musicians Competition:

Congratulations to the Astral Quartet, coached by Nicholas Wright: Da-Wei Chan, violin; Xenia Huang, violin; Hilary Chan, viola; Carl Teng, cello. They were the Senior First Prize and Audience Prize winners! This 26 and under category had performers from post-secondary and other schools.

Congratulations also goes out to Kira Gill, violin (student of Yi Zhou) who is part of the Brio Trio. They tied for the Junior Third Prize! This competition took place on April 14, 2024 and the adjudicator was Jane Coop (concert pianist: recitalist, chamber musician, soloist with orchestras; emeritus professor, Faculty of Music, UBC.)
