Prior to moving to Vancouver, Laura worked for 7 years as a Music and Arts educator with Tower Hamlets Arts and Music Education Service (THAMES) in London. She is passionate about providing access to high quality music and arts experiences for all, regardless of age, ability, playing level or economic circumstances, and is a strong supporter and advocate of equity and diversity within the arts.
During her time at THAMES, Laura was selected to work with the London Early Years Music Network (LEYMN), where she received specialist training and mentorship in early years music education. She has also provided early years music training to staff working in schools and pre-schools, focusing on the ways and means of incorporating music making and singing into various subjects within the school curriculum, and methods of engaging with children musically through a constructivist and child-led approach. Laura integrates a variety of different teaching methods and approaches during her music sessions, including aspects of Orff-Schulerk, Kodaly, and Dalcroze.
