Ingrid Stitt
For the past twenty years, Ingrid Stitt has been active in Vancouver as a performer, band leader, clinician, adjudicator, and educator. A graduate of McGill University’s faculty of music, Ingrid has honed her skills as a saxophonist with many of Canada’s finest musicians such as Rhonda Smith, Charles Ellison, Charlie Biddle, Oliver Jones, Nancy Walker, Collen Allen, Rosemary Galloway, Jane Fair, Norman Amadio, George Koller, Jodi Proznick and many more. As a member of Jim Galloway’s Wee Big Band, she had the honour to perform and record with guest artists Fraser MacPherson, Jay McShann, and Jake Hanna. She has also performed with the Vancouver Legacy Jazz Orchestra and currently with the Sister Jazz Orchestra.
Ingrid offers in-person instruction for saxophone players of all levels. Lessons can be tailored to specific aims and learning styles. She is also a combo coach where the focus includes improvisation, repertoire, theory, ear training and performance readiness. Ingrid’s philosophy of teaching is to mentor students and to provide opportunities for meaningful learning that rewarding and fun!
