Madison Dartana
In-person lessons
It was harp-love at first sight when Madison laid eyes on a gold-plated concert grand harp in a televised performance of Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake. From there, she further developed her love for music by studying with punk-celtic harpist Clare Morgan, who taught lever harp completely by ear. After transitioning to learn classical harp repertoire, Madison began performing with her local high school symphony orchestra at the age of ten.
Madison is a celtic, classical, and electric harpist with a passion for innovation and interdisciplinary performance. She re-imagines harp stereotypes, and finds new ways to bring the harp into many different genres of music. Skilled in both the celtic and orchestral harp, Madison performs at weddings, receptions, and other events as a chamber musician and as a soloist. Madison has completed a Bachelor’s of Music in Orchestral Performance at UBC, where she studied with Elizabeth Volpé-Bligh. She has performed with many orchestras including the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, the National Youth Orchestra of Canada, the Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra, Symphony 21, and the Okanagan Symphony.
Madison won second place in the Greatest Composer’s Series, Rising Talents of the Americas Competition in 2018. She is the recipient of the Norah Mansell Music Scholarship, the Drs. Joan and Melville Shaw Scholarship in Music, and is a ‘19 BMO Capital Markets Loran Finalist.
