Level I Techniques | Mondays, 11-12pm | Techniques include proper breathing, tonguing, low notes and high notes with musical excerpts to put them into practice. All voices of recorder are welcome. |
Level IV Techniques | Tuesdays, 10-11am | Techniques include vibrato, tone, intonation and approaching different musical styles. All voices of recorder are welcome. |
Level VI Techniques: Articulation | Tuesdays, 9-10am | Focus on proper tonguing technique, the common syllables (t, d, r, l), slurs, double tonguing, historical resources (ex. Ganassi, Quantz, Hotteterre), application in musical works |
Level VII Techniques: Ornamentation | Mondays, 10-11am | Focus on exploring ornamentation from Germany, England, France and Italy, exercises to build skills and practice to gain confidence in applying and executing ornaments, trills, historical resources (ex. Ganassi, Quantz, Hotteterre) and newer resources, application in musical works |
Recommended for adults with basic knowledge of the fingerings on at least one type of recorder (C or F), these virtual classes address aspects of recorder playing that are fundamental to making the most of your musical experiences. Led by Marea Chernoff, this is your opportunity to learn, hone or elevate a variety of playing skills with a detailed approach.
