Take your recorder playing and musicality to the next level with these supportive virtual technique workshops, led by Marea Chernoff. Recommended for adults with a basic knowledge of the fingerings on at least one type of recorder (C or F); all voices of recorder can participate.
Please note: these online classes are recorded, and recordings can be made available to registered participants if they are not able to attend all 3 weeks.
Intro to French Ornamentation | Apr 15, 22 & 27 |
Does the thought of navigating ornaments and their symbols in French Baroque music feel daunting and intimidating? If so, this is the class for you! Learn how to execute the ornaments and apply them with confidence to enhance your musical experience. Become an ace of bass recorder with this class focusing on the unique challenges of the instrument. Bass recorder is an important part of any recorder ensemble, gain confidence in your bass technique. Intro to Articulation (Tonguing) | Jun 3, 10 & 17 |
Are you hesitant to vary your articulation on the recorder or unsure how to read the notated articulations? Do your low notes squeak and high notes ‘break’ when you try to tongue them? This online class led by Marea Chernoff will cover the basic techniques and challenges of tonguing on the recorder. This is an opportunity to learn, review and practice your articulation skills. Recommended for adults with a basic knowledge of the fingerings on recorder. These sessions will focus on:
