This is an IN-PERSON summer camp, held at the VSO School of Music
The VSO School of Music is pleased to introduce a brand new five-day intensive camp especially for high-school woodwind, brass, and percussion students. This non-auditioned concert band/wind ensemble, led by celebrated educator and BCMEA President Janet Irvine, will help build up ensemble cohesiveness, intonation, music reading, and sense of community. Students will enjoy instrument specific sectionals and workshops with VSO musicians and VSO SoM Faculty during the camp. Music-related lectures will be interspersed throughout to give students insight in various aspects of music-making.
Students’ hard work throughout the camp will culminate in a final concert on Friday evening in the Annex (next to the VSO School), which families and friends are encouraged to attend.
This camp is appropriate for high-school students with at least two years of wind, brass or percussion instrument playing experience. If you are unsure about suitability, please refer to the example excerpts (coming soon), or contact Wind, Brass & Percussion Programs Administrator Mia Gazley.
Please note: early drop-off (9am) and late pick-up (5pm) options are available for an additional charge of $30 each for the week. Please select one or both of these options during registration if desired.
